The Trickster cursed under his breath as he pulled himself to his feet once more and started to brush himself off. “Perhaps next time you should pay better attention…” he growled out.
The Trickster glared briefly at the woman before moving to walk past her, standing tall and proud again. He could see the annoyance present on her face, but when it looked as if she wouldn’t say anything, he kept silent and looked ready to move on without incident.
But as he moved to walk away, he heard the words that had been mumbled under the woman’s breath and he tensed up before turning to face her once more.
“Excuse me?” he growled out, closing the distance between the two of them.
➳ For a moment, it didn’t register that the man had heard her. Lydia thought she was being fairly quiet when she vocalized her irritation. Ah, crap. She wasn’t in the mood for a confrontation, and Lydia was considering apologizing again and just walking away—-but really, it wasn’t fair on her, was it? She’s been told time and time again to stop avoiding people, and to speak up, so fine.
❝I already apologized, there was no reason to be rude about it.❞
The man was standing far too close, but Lydia didn’t let herself feel intimidated.
The Trickster cursed under his breath as he pulled himself to his feet once more and started to brush himself off. “Perhaps next time you should pay better attention…” he growled out.
➳ Lips pressed firmly together to bite back a scathing remark, Lydia’s eyes flickered up to the man’s face. Her expression showed her annoyance, but she kept silent, sidestepping to let the man pass.
When she did speak, it was a soft grumble, meant only for her own ears.
